Abraham, Martin and John

Pieces of Music that have political connotations to them are always interesting. In the last few days I have heard the beautiful song Abraham, Martin and John played as a tribute to Whitney Huston. It's a simple song dedicated to the memory of great American leaders that have been felled by assassins. No disrespect to Whitney but I much prefer the Marvin Gaye version. It's probably more appropriate too as Gaye also met a violent death in a domestic incident. While the song is noted for its tribute to Lincoln, King and Kennedy it is also a more general expression of the bewilderment and helplessness we all feel about such murders. Enjoy and this may just be the beginning of a "Political Music" segment on Gubu World
